Brit Valley Fly Fishery
The River Brit, Dorset

BRIT VALLEY FLY FISHERY, BRIDPORT, DORSET

Introduction

A rare opportunity to acquire a beat of River Brit with approximately 370 metres of single bank fishing.

Location

The fishery is situated just outside Bridport as shaded blue on the plan.

Directions

From Beaminster follow the A3066 to Bridport.  At roundabout go straight over signposted Exeter/Weymouth/West Bay.  Next roundabout take 4th exit going back towards the Town Centre.  After 200 metres at traffic lights for supermarket, turn left.  After 100 metres park in car park on right at football ground.  Cross the road on foot and follow track for about 300 metres.  Over cattle grid and enter the field via galvanised gate (Point C on Plan).

The River Brit

The Brit is a relatively unknown River.  However, Brit Valley Fly Fishery is regarded as being the best fishing on the River being the first non-tidal beat but being below the town water.

The Fishing

Detailed records have been kept up to and including 2006 Season.  Since that time only informal records have been kept but these show an average of 65 sea trout being caught per annum. The table below shows the declared rod catches for the River Brit provided by the Environment Agency for this beat and approximately 300 metres of the river upstream.
