Description
Bradshaw Hall Fisheries has been developed by the current owners in to a first class Commercial Coarse Fishery.  Seven of the lakes originally formed part of the medieval manor of Bradshaw dating from the 12th Century, and then later extended to serve Hardcastles Textile Mill that ceased operation in 1963.

As part of their impressive improvement plan, a 100 peg match canal was constructed and opened in 2008. 

The fishery has the benefit of over 12 acres of water offering fishing in 8 lakes. 

Situation
Bradshaw Hall Fisheries is situated to the North East of Bolton with good access to the M66, M62 & the M61 motorway network. Within a 30 mile radius of the fishery is a substantial urban catchment area including Liverpool, Manchester, Blackburn and Huddersfield

The Fishery
Bradshaw Hall Fisheries have been developed over the last nine years to provide 8 fishing lakes.  These include lakes suitable for match, pleasure and specimen fishing.  The fishery provides approximately 250 pegs.

The fishery has the benefit of it’s own parking enabling easy access to all the lakes.  Additional facilities include café, sale of terminal tackle and bait, together with ladies, gents and disabled toilet facilities, and portacabin office.

The Lakes
The lakes are fed from a combination of springs, ground and surface water.  The current owners have carried out a considerable amount of work to the fishery in particular restoring the lakes to provide first class fishing.

Fish Stocks
The 8 lakes on the fishery are well stocked with a variety of coarse fish although the main emphasis has been on carp. 
Lake 2 has Carp to 30lb, Tench and Bream to 6lb, Perch to 4lb and Roach and Crucian Carp 2lb. 
Number 1 is similar with smaller fish. 
Number 3 has Bream to 7lb, Carp to 10lb, Tench to 6lb, Perch to 2lb and Roach to 1lb 8oz. 
Number 4 Lake has Carp to 20lb and a large head of  Silver Fish including quality Roach. 
Lake Numbers 5 and 6 have Carp to 23lb, Bream and Tench to 5lb, Chub 4lb, Perch 3lb plus Crucian Carp and Roach to 2lb. 
Number 7 is heavily stocked with more small fish including Carp.
Lake Number 8, the Canal, is heavily stocked with small Carp, Roach, Chub, Bream, Skimmers, Perch and Gudgeon.

The Café
Constructed of stone and conveniently positioned adjacent to the main car park.  The café provides a variety of refreshments to visiting fishermen.

The Business
Bradshaw Hall Fisheries has been developed and managed as a profitable day ticket fishery for pleasure, match and specimen anglers.  It is a member of Premier Fisheries UK, an association of 17 major leisure/ fisheries in the UK. 

The majority of the turnover is generated from day ticket sales and match fees.  Charges for the 2009 season are as follows:

Adults     -        £6.50 One Rod
£10.50 Two Rods

Junior & Concessions    -        £5.00 One Rod
£7.00 Two Rods

Additional income is generated from sales of tackle and bait with further potential to develop the income through the café if managed ‘in hand’.

The current turnover for the business year ending May 2009 is £128,000.

Planning
Planning Permission (60536/01 – Bolton Council) was granted on the 7th November 2001 for the formation of a 100 Peg Fishing lake for use by disabled persons, together with toilet facilities and 102 car parking spaces suitable for the use of disabled persons (including the formation of artificial fishing canal).
